Nam Can Market, also known by its intimate name Doan Ket Market, is near Nam Can International Border Gate in Ky Son District, Nghe An Province. This border market is located on flat land, surrounded by Nam Can stream. The market is only held twice a month on the 14th and 29th of the solar calendar.

From the afternoon of the previous day of the market, at the two border crossings, convoys carrying people and goods came one after another to gather in front of the Nam Can border post to go to the market. Therefore, on these days, the border scene becomes unusually bustling and bustling. They set up tents and shops to prepare for the next day's market. When the morning dew still covered the mountains and forests, people in the border areas between Vietnam and Laos crowdedly followed each other to the market. Goods here are very rich: goods from Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam are available. Lao and H'Mong girls are graceful in colorful ethnic dresses. Visitors here can choose to buy their favorite items and can pay in Lao or Vietnamese money. The market was so crowded until the sun sank in the ravine. If you come here in the spring, you can also attend a unique market, cherish the friendship between Vietnam and Lao P.D.R.

When Nam Can was upgraded to an international border gate, the market changed to meeting on a plot of land belonging to Dinh Dam village, Noong Het commune, Xieng Khoang province, Laos (about 1km from the border). From the afternoon of January 28, the compatriots of the two countries were busy setting up tents and shops. At night, most people did not sleep, they meet, share together the joys and sorrows of life with a cup of warm corn wine.

Nowadays, traffic in mountainous areas is more convenient, and there are motorized vehicles, so going to the market is no longer too difficult. Here, many elderly people, if their health is still good, often do not miss any market, especially at the end of the year to be immersed in the sound of the trumpet calling for friends, to immerse yourself in the crowded and bustling atmosphere, to spare the hard days of making a living.
